Start Your Own Business with the Help of SCORE

Published August 06, 2011

The Start Your Own Business Workshop draws a rich mix of people looking at going into their own business.

Ft. Lauderdale SCORE held the first of its workshops on starting your own business today at the Broward West Regional Library in Plantation.

SCORE Counselors Gerry Couture and Norm Showers designed the workshop to take attendees through the initial steps of determining what is needed to successfully start a business. There is strong focus on understanding the mental preparation and identifying skill sets and personalities needed for different kinds of businesses. The workshop drills down on defining your business and identifying what is going to make it stand out and how you can effectively articulate its value to your target customers.

This workshop repeats most Saturdays through the end of November alternating between the Broward West Regional Library in Plantation, The Southwest Regional Library in Pembroke Pines, and the Percy White Library in Deerfield Beach. The August schedule is listed below. Go to the “workshops” section at www.browardscore.org to review the schedules for September, October, and November.
