Broward SCORE’s Business Turnaround Program was engaged to help a local Southeastern Florida company be even more successful. Participating in the Miami Herald’s Small Business Makeover series Broward SCORE worked with Tropical Lights, a Ft. Lauderdale based company, to design a plan to help it move forward through challenging economic times. See an article on the makeover at http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/11/27/2516413/tropical-lights-of-fort-lauderdale.html?story_link=email_msg#ixzz1fOKFZH89
The Turnaround Program pulls together a small team of SCORE mentors with the appropriate skills, backgrounds, and experience that are pertinent to the industry of the client company. The team works with the owners and managers to gain insights into the issues and opportunities at hand. They then put together a plan using financial, marketing, operational, technology, sales, human resource, etc. Initiatives that will address what may not be working optimally in some cases. In other situations they devise plans that aid successful businesses in breaking through to new thresholds of growth and/or profit.
Dave Harris, The SCORE mentor who manages the program, says “Our charter is to pool our resources together in a team approach to more effectively and efficiently work with small business owners in Southeastern Florida. Time is important to those entrepreneurs and our team methodology produces excellent results for the time invested by both the owners and SCORE mentors. We can drill down quickly to issues and opportunities and come up with solutions and plans to improve revenues and profits."
