Broward SCORE in conjunction with the African American Research Library and Cultural Center held a business training workshop on owning a business. Thinking of Owning a Business is a two hour workshop that deals with what is involved in owning and operating a business.
The program covers the many hats a business owner must wear. It discusses the myths and realities of entrepreneurship and the key characteristics of successful entrepreneurs. Different ways of becoming a business owner are reviewed – starting your own business, buying an existing business, franchising, etc.
The session was well attended. George Gremse, Broward SCORE Chapter Chairman and the workshop leader, said “The attendees were there to get a step up in their journeys to become business owners. We had people looking to start a variety of businesses – automotive repair, health spa, transcription services, paralegal services, a bakery, a restaurant, online retail and service businesses and others.”
Darcia Scates of the African American Research Library and Cultural Center organized a successful event and secured radio and newspaper promotion to make the community aware of it.
