Broward SCORE participated today in Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz's Annual Small Business Workshop. SCORE Volunteers Eric Thompson, Michael Bush, Tapan Chakrabarty, and George Gremse led business workshops and met individually with entrepreneurs and business owners.
The event drew over 300 participants to the Broward County Convention Center. Speakers and exhibitors included Broward SCORE, Miami SCORE, the Venezuelan- American Chamber of Commerce; the Small Business Development Council, The Internal Revenue Service, Regions Bank, Miramar Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Broward County Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development.
Congresswoman Schultz in her speech at the plenary session went out of her way to praise the support that SCIRE gives to the business community and its effectiveness. Those feelings were echoed by Maria Johns, Deputy Administrator of the SBA who came from Washington to demonstrate her support.
Vincent & Mary Colangelo received the SBA Export Achievement Award. They pointed out that part of their success was due to the guidance they had received from SCORE during their business’ formative years. See photos at:
